Why he might be annoying:

He noted about his first comic book job, as a letterer, 'It was so badly done that they [the people who had hired him] nearly got the sack and were told never to hire me again.'
His lettering style was used as a reference when Vincent Connare created the Comic Sans font.
He was overshadowed by Moore in their collaborations.

Why he might not be annoying:

His style evolved from his admiration for early Mad magazine artists like Will Elder and Wally Wood.
In drawing 'Watchman,' he inserted background details that Moore admitted he did not notice until 'the sixth or seventh read.'
He said about working with Moore, 'There's quite a lot of overlap in that he's a very picture-oriented writer and I'm a very story-oriented artist,'
He was chosen by Comics Literary Awareness as the first 'Comics Laureate' to serve as 'an ambassador for comic books and their potential to improve literacy.' (2019)
