U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (May 16, 1931-June 28, 2023)
    Born in Paris, France
    Republican Representative from Connecticut's 4th District (1969-1971)
    Republican Senator from Connecticut (1971-1989)
    Third-party governor of Connecticut (1991-1995)

Why he might be annoying:

He lost his 1998 Senate race to Joseph Lieberman.
He formed a third party, called A Connecticut Party, which only lasted five years.
He was on the board of directors for WWE.
During the Connecticut governor's race, he said he would not establish a broad income tax. After he was elected, he changed his position and pushed for the income tax.
His support for the income tax inspired a protest rally and made him unpopular.
The new tax cost the state business, as insurance companies left the state.
As senator, he was criticized for his poor attendance record.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won the 1992 Profile in Courage Award.
One of his children has Down Syndrome.
In all fairness, Connecticut was in fiscal trouble when he established the tax.
He was a liberal Republican who clashed with more conservative Republicans.
    He opposed the Iraq war.
He was on the Senate Watergate committee.
Although he was a former WWE stockholder, he still opposed Linda McMahon for Senate.
