The Resume

    (September 4, 1895-May 1, 1928)
    Born in Hunan Province, China
    Birth name was Xiang Junxian
    Founded Xupu Primary School (1916)
One of the first female members of the Communist Party of China
Pioneer of women's rights in China
Organized strikes by female workers in silk factories
First director of the Party's Women's Bureau (1922)
First female member of the Party's Central Committee (1922)
Executed by police officers of the Nationalist government

Why she might be annoying:

She was nicknamed 'Old Grandma' for her dour demeanor.
She was forced to resign from the Central Committee after an affair with a high-ranking Communist leader, Peng Shuzhi (1925).
Due to her martyrdom, her status in the Party has been exaggerated. (Women's rights were a low priority for the Party's leadership.)

Why she might not be annoying:

She drafted an equal rights bill that was passed by the Communist Party's Third People's Congress, recognizing women's rights to equal pay, equality in education, equal inheritance rights, and freedom of marriage (1923).
She criticized the male chauvinism of the Party leadership.
Peng Shuhzi was not forced to resign over their affair. (Double standard.)
Before her execution, she said, 'You can kill me and cut me to pieces.... Tens of thousands will rise up in my place.'
