Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname is 'Gibby.'
He spent the majority of his playing career in the minor leagues.
Despite being considered a top catching prospect in the Mets system, he was the team's third option, behind both Gary Carter and Ed Hearn.
He was considered a blowhard by both his former players and baseball pundits.
He reportedly challenged Shea Hillenbrand to a fist fight in the Blue Jays clubhouse (2005).
His rehiring as the Blue Jays manager led to initial skepticism from the team's fanbase, due to his mediocre record during his first stint.
He led the majors in managerial ejections (2018).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was born to a military family, and in an ironic turn of events, got his start playing baseball, while his family was stationed in Canada.
He served as the Mets bullpen catcher during the team's 1986 postseason run, earning a World Series ring in the process.
He posted a respectable record during his first stint with the Blue Jays, despite having challenges within the clubhouse.
When he was hired by the Blue Jays the second time, he was publicly endorsed by Shea Hillenbrand, who praised his managerial approach, and took responsibility for the incident six years earlier.
He guided the Blue Jays to the franchise's first playoff appearance in 22 years (2015).
