The Resume

    (November 11, 1748-January 19, 1819)
    Born in Naples, Italy
    King of Spain (1788-1809)

Why he might be annoying:

    He married his first cousin.
He preferred hunting over dealing with matters of state.
He was easily manipulated by his ministers.
As a result, he kept alternating between allying with and declaring war on France, until Napoleon declared the Bourbon dynasty over, installed his brother Joseph on the Spanish throne, and placed Charles under house arrest.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was generally considered amiable and good natured, if none too bright.
He outlived eight of his fourteen children.
He and his family were the subjects of one of Francisco Goya’s best-known paintings.
