    Portrayed Dr. Alex Stone in ‘The Donna Reed Show’ (1958-66) and Clinton Judd in ‘Judd for the Defense’ (1967-69)
    Appeared in the films ‘The President’s Lady’ (1952), ‘City of Bad Men’ (1953), ‘Spinout’ (1966), and ‘The Boy Who Talked to Badgers’ (1975)

Why he might be annoying:

    He said about his brief pre-‘Donna Reed’ movie career, ‘I made pictures at 20th Century Fox for a year, but the executive heads there couldn’t make up their minds if I was a hero or a heavy.’
    He described his role on ‘The Donna Reed Show’ as ‘a namby-pamby part.’
    He was initially reluctant to star in ‘Judd for the Defense,’ noting, ‘I did not want to do another series, you get bored.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He played tailback for the Carnegie Mellon football team, including playing in the Sugar Bowl against Texas Christian University (1938).
    He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.
    He won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for ‘Judd for the Defense.’
