Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname was 'The Senator.'
He spent the last two seasons of his playing career on a dreadful Jets team.
Many hockey pundits forget he was the initial player who used the spin-o-rama move, which they credit to Denis Savard instead.
He was initially arrested for drunk driving on 2004, but didn't plead guilty to the charges until 2006.
Some Canadiens fans blame him for the slow dismantling of the team's perennial Stanley Cup championship era.
He traded John LeClair and Eric Desjardins to the Philadelphia Flyers, where the duo go on to establish themselves as top line players (1995).
He was fired by the Canadiens four games into the 1995-96 season.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a member of ten Stanley Cup championship teams (1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1979 as a player, 1986 and 1993 as an executive).
He played Games 5 to 8 of the 1972 Summit Series on a broken leg.
He was the first defenseman in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (1969).
He was the second last player from the Original Six era to play well into the 1980's.
He gave Jean Perron and Pat Burns their first NHL head coaching jobs.
He was the architect of the Canadiens last two Stanley Cup championship teams (1986, 1993).
Outside of hockey, he was a successful entrepreneur in the Montreal area.
