The Resume

    (1972- )

Population is 10,927 as of the 2021 census
Third largest city in Prince Edward Island

Why Stratford, PEI might be annoying:

It often gets mistaken for being a suburb of Charlottetown, due to its close proximity to the city.
It shares its name with the more recognized community in Ontario.
It became a town after the government of Prince Edward Island amalgamated the comminities of Bunbury, Cross Roads, Keppoch-Kinlock and Southport as one town.
The newly amalgamated town took its name from Stratford Road, rather then the largest community, Southport.
It dealt with high traffic volumes, prior to the widening of the Hillsborough River Bridge.

Why Stratford, PEI might not be annoying:

It is a diverse community with an economy ranging from agriculture to fishing.
Its residents won a referendum that prevented the newly amalgamated community to be named Charlottetown South, preferring an identity that keeps it separate from the latter.
It experienced a significant population growth following the improvements to the Hillsborough River Bridge.
It is considered one of the fastest growing communities in Atlantic Canada.
