Coached the Dallas Stars to the 1998-99 Stanley Cup
Won the first four Frank J. Selke trophies (1978-1981)

Why he might be annoying:

He did not grow up in a ‘hockey-playing family.'
He announced his retirement soon after the Canadiens lost to the Calgary Flames for the 1988-89 Stanley Cup.
As the general manager of the Dallas Stars (1997), he drafted his own son in the annual entry draft.
He said, ‘No matter how much I wanted to do other things, I wanted to do hockey more.'
He looked at hockey as his ‘life's work.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a forward who specialized in the defensive elements of the sport.
In the 1990-91 season, after upsetting two stronger teams (Chicago and St. Louis), he coached the stumbling Minnesota North Stars to the Stanley Cup final.
His wife died in 1995, after a five-year battle with brain cancer.
When he took over as head coach of the Minnesota North Stars in 1990, the team got to the Stanley Cup finals.
His son was not among his first choices for the 1997 draft.
