Actress

The Resume

    (February 18, 1970- )
    Born in Seal Beach, California
Birth name is Susan Ferrell Egan
Acted in 'Men Don't Tell,' 'Man of the Century,' 'Revolution OS,' 'Spirited Away,' and '13 Going on 30'
Provided the voice work for Megara in Disney's 'Hercules' and Rose Quartz in 'Steven Universe'
Best known for originating the role of Belle in the Broadway adaptation of 'Beauty and the Beast' (1994)
Performed in Broadway/touring productions of 'Bye Bye Birdie,' 'State Fair,' 'Triumph of Love,' and 'Cabaret'

Why she might be annoying:

    Her nickname is Su-Su.
She has kept the same 'bowl' hairdo for most of her career.
She dropped out of UCLA where she was pursuing an Anthropology degree to tour with the cast of 'Bye Bye Birdie.'
She had difficulty capitalizing on the overnight stardom she won for playing Belle.
She tried to rip off the Mae West tonal inflection for the voice of Meg.
She did singing voice work for the god-awful 'Lady & the Tramp' sequel - 'Scamp's Adventure.'
Paige O'Hara's husband attested to hearing kids cry 'that's not Belle!' upon first hearing Egan on opening night for 'Beauty.'
When she was doing a revival of 'Bye Bye Birdie' Tommy Tune told her he loved her rendition of 'How Lovely to Be a Woman' so much that he sang it as a vocal warm-up during costume changes (she was flattered but disliked picturing him singing her song in his underwear).

Why she might not be annoying:

She trained as a competitive figure skater as a little girl.
She was part of the inaugural class at the Orange County High School of the Arts.
She found marginal success as a part-time songwriter.
She received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for 'Beauty and the Beast' (1994).
She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (1994).
Her Meg character has attained a cult following among Disney fans in recent years (probably due to her having more 'edge' than is common among Disney's female characters).
She performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (2004).
She joked that her ultimate ego check is her daughter reminding her that her favorite Disney Princess is actually Ariel.
She even made mention of said 'reality check' in a bizarre (oddly poignant) music video in which animated woodland creatures live in her kitchen.
She was the opening act for Disney's 'Little Mermaid Live' show at the Hollywood Bowl, along with Brad Kane (Jun. 2016).
She was never bitter about getting the 'Beauty and the Beast' show getting critically panned, saying that it 'grounded her' (that it was a hit financially probably didn't hurt either).
