The Resume

Why The Tudors might be annoying:

Like many adaptations of historical figures/events, many events were fantasized or glorified compared to what actually happened in real life.
Its sole Emmy win was for Outstanding Costume Design for a Drama Series.
Like 'Rome' and 'Game of Thrones,' it is bloody and gory in nature.
The sex and profanity was overdone.
A 'New York Times' review said that the series 'fails to live up to the great long-form dramas cable television has produced' largely because 'it radically reduces the era's thematic conflicts to simplistic struggles over personal and erotic power.'

Why The Tudors might not be annoying:

At the time of its 2007 debut, it was the highest rated debut for a Showtime series in three years.
It cast a few famous faces.
Notable guest stars included Peter O'Toole and Max Von Sydow.
The writing and plot improved as the series progressed.
The costumes and sets were colorful in the truest sense.
