Why he might be annoying:

After he returned from Vietnam, he photocopied a large stack of government documents regarding the execution of the War (the Pentagon Papers).
He tried to leak these papers to the Senate, but the Senators he covertly talked to refused (they were afraid to do so).
By leaking the Pentagon Papers to the New York Times, he was on Nixon's hit list.
He went underground before publicly surrendering at the US Attorney's Office at Boston, Massachusetts.
He pissed off the George W. Bush administration for praising Katherine Gun and calling on others to leak any papers about the 2003 Invasion of Iraq.

Why he might not be annoying:

He attended Cranbrook School and Harvard University.
He had a Ph.D. in Economics.
He was committed to fighting communism before the escalation of the Vietnam War.
He served in Vietnam as a civilian.
All charges against him were dropped after massive government misconduct and Watergate.
He gave out lecture tours and spoke out about current events.
