    Though he was initially drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2000, he and the team could not agree to a contract.
    As a result, he wound up re-entering the draft.
    He likes to golf.
    His house was featured on MTV 's 'Cribs.'
    He called off his engagement from model and actress Rachel Hunter just days before their wedding in 2009.
    He was arrested for suspected cocaine possession (April 17, 2015).

    In his final year with the WHL's Kootenay Ice, he captained the team to a Memorial Cup championship.
    He twice represented his country at the World Junior Hockey Championships, in 2001 and 2002.
    During an Oilers game against the Vancouver Canucks in 2006, he set an franchise record by winning 21 of 22 faceoffs.
    He was part of the 2011-2012 Los Angeles Kings championship team that brought the franchise its first Stanley Cup title.
    He likes watching movies in his free time.
