Why he might be annoying:

He was forced to resign West Point Military Academy for hitting classmate (future Confederate General Jubal Early) over the head with a mess hall tray.
Despite his dishonor at West Point he went on to serve in the U.S Army due to the influences of his Father, a General and his Uncle, a Congressman.
    He was a free mason.
He fought for the side that supported slavery.

Why he might not be annoying:

He lost two children, two wives, his family's home to fire and suffered a severe illness, within 6 years.
He was forced to battle his closest friends, including Winfield Scott Hancock.
He was appointed Major upon joining the Confederate forces at Richmond (September 1861). Two weeks later he ascended to full Colonel and command of the 57th Virginian Infantry Regiment.
Within that year he was promoted to Brigadier General.
He was fatally wounded in a suicide mission, but managed to breach the Union lines.
His push at Gettysburg would be the most Northerly push made by the Confederacy during the Civil war.
His dying thoughts were of his friends Winfield Scott and Elmira Hancock.
He left instructions that should he fall, his most prized possession (a family bible) was to be forwarded to Elmira Hancock.
He was a descendant of George Armistead, who guarded the original Star Spangled Banner.
