Vocalist

The Resume

    (January 15, 1923-September 9, 2018)
    Born in San Diego, California
    Birth name was Eileen Eshelman
Regular on NBC's 'Your Hit Parade' (1950-52)
Sang on the 'Hit Parade' radio program (1948-49)
Recorded 'I Thought About You' and 'They Say It's Wonderful'

Why she might be annoying:

She adopted the name of her vocal coach for a stage name.
She sang on the Aunt Jemima-knockoff radio program Beulah.
She was replaced on the 'Hit Parade' television show by June Valli (who was in turn replaced by Gisele MacKenzie).
Her movie career only extended to dubbing the singing voices of stars like Ava Gardner and Sheree North.

Why she might not be annoying:

Before her Hit Parade years, she was a vocalist with the Skitch Henderson and Les Brown orchestras.
When she first joined the Hit Parade on radio, her co-star was Frank Sinatra.
She sang on the soundtracks for films including 'Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse' and 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.'
She took part in Time Life's Swing Era recording sessions, with a Billy May led orchestra.
For some reason, while Margaret Whiting did the on-screen singing for Susan Hayward in Valley of the Dolls, she's the one who sang for Hayward on the motion picture soundtrack.
She suffered from Alzheimer's disease near the end of her life.
