    He was unable to carry the Red Wings on a deep playoff run during his tenure with the team.
    He was deemed expendable by the Red Wings following the emergence of Chris Osgood.
    His career trajectory went downwards following his trade to Winnipeg.
    His tenure with the Jets ended as a result of his inconsistent play, and was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers (1996).

    He was a durable goaltender, average no fewer then 65 starts in his first few seasons as the Red Wings starter.
    He was a solid presence in the Red Wings net, which helped keep the team afloat while rising to prominence in the 1990's.
    He got the opportunity to play for the Jets, which was close to his home base of Saskatchewan.
    He operated a goalie clinic during his playing career, in his adopted hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
