Agent

The Resume

    (1946-February 19, 2022)
    Born in Paris, France
    Modeling agent and scout
    Founded MC2 Model Management
Accused of being involved in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring
Charged with one count of rape of a minor (September, 2021)
Committed suicide by hanging in his jail cell

Why he might be annoying:

He often dressed so gaudily that associates jokingly wondered if he was color blind.
    He abused cocaine.
A 60 Minutes investigation accused him of fostering a culture at his agencies where models were regularly drugged and sexually abused (1988).
John Casablancas said about a group of agents that included Brunel, 'They were very well known in Paris for roaming the clubs. They would invite girls and put drugs in their drinks. Everybody knew they were creeps.' (1995)
He was known in French modeling circles as 'Jean Cui' -- 'Jean the Ass.'
He reportedly received $1 million from Epstein to launch MC2.
Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre identified Brunel as one of the men she was forced to have sex with when she was seventeen.
Giuffre reported that Epstein boasted that he had 'slept with over a thousand of Brunel's girls.'
A former MC2 bookkeeper testified that Brunel brought girls as young as fourteen to Epstein's apartment and parties.
In an epic display of chutzpah, he sued Epstein, claiming to have lost business because of Epstein's crimes (2015).
The suit was dismissed. (Although we are not sure if the reasoning was that Brunel's reputation was already shady before he hooked up with Epstein, or if 'How dare you sleep with the girls I procured for you' struck the court as too silly an argument to allow as a defense.)
He went into hiding after Epstein's death (August 10, 2019).
He was arrested at Charles De Gaulle Airport, preparing to board a flight to Dakar in Senegal (December 16, 2020).
Although he had tried to kill himself before, he was not placed on suicide watch.
The similarities between his death and Epstein's are guaranteed to get the conspiracy theorists working overtime.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was credited with discovering Christy Turlington, Sharon Stone, Milla Jovovich, and Angie Everhart.
He claimed he did not have a drug problem, since he refrained from using cocaine during the day.
Although he was not on suicide watch, he was on a list of 'vulnerable prisoners' at risk of violence from other inmates.
The cells holding vulnerable prisoners were patrolled more frequently than the rest of the prison, four to six times a day.
