Vocalist

The Resume

    (October 5, 1933-August 2, 2009)
    Born in Pocahontas, Arkansas
Recorded the singles 'Flying Saucers Rock and Roll' and 'Red Hot' (both 1957)
Inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame

Why he might be annoying:

After recording the novelty song 'Flying Saucers Rock and Roll,' he renamed his backing band the Little Green Men.
'Red Hot' was selling promisingly until Sun Records head Sam Phillips stopped promoting it in favor of Jerry Lee Lewis' 'Great Balls of Fire.'
He recorded under a large number of pseudonyms, including Darren Lee, Skip Wiley, Sandy & the Sandstormers and the Megatons.
Despite a resurgence of popularity during a late 70s rockabilly revival, he got tired of being a cult figure and retired from music.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was noted for his wild stage show.
He worked as a session musician for the Beach Boys, Herb Alpert and Dean Martin, among others.
During a hiatus from the music biz, he ran his own construction firm.
Bob Dylan was a fan, tracked him down to open some concerts, and introduced him as 'my hero.' (1992)
