    Director of player personnel for the Miami Dolphins (1975-78)
    General manager for the New York Giants (1979-97)
    Senior vice president of football operations for the NFL (1998-2001)
    NFL Executive of the Year (1984, 1986, 1990, 1993, 1997)

Why he might be annoying:

    He accepted the Giants general manager's job after he requested and was granted full control of the team's football operations.
    He struggled to adapt to the free agency rules when it came to building a roster in the 1990's.
    Despite being one of the top general managers with drafting, his reputation took a hit following the team's Super Bowl XXV victory as he drafted six consecutive first round busts (1991-96).
    He passed on hiring Bill Belichick as the Giants head coach, settling on Ray Handley instead.
    He struggled with building a roster through free agency, often failing to re-sign his core players to other teams.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was one of the first general managers to put an emphasis on building a team through the NFL Draft.
    He was the architect of the Giants first two Super Bowl winning teams (1986, 1990).
    He drafted the likes of franchise mainstays Lawrence Taylor, Phil Simms and Michael Strahan, who would all go on to win Super Bowl rings with the team.
    He was a high school history teacher, prior to making his mark in the NFL ranks.
    He earned the NFL Executive of the Year Award five times.
    He was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (2020).
