    She divorced writer-producer Herb Sargent.
    Her Wikipedia and IMDb bios claim she made her Broadway debut in The Crucible, but there's no record of it in the Internet Broadway Database (nowhere is it even listed what part she would have played).
    She got the role of Golde in Fiddler only after actress Hanna Maron (Norman Jewison's original choice for the role) lost her leg in a terrorist attack in Munich.

    She was born in New York City, but raised in El Paso.
    She was a member of Elia Kazan's Actors Studio.
    She first gained recognition in a Studio One adaptation of Orwell's 1984, in the role of Julia.
