    Performed for Soviet Union (1988-1991), Uzbekistan (1993-2006), and Germany (2006-2009)
    Won 10 gold medals (2 gold and 1 silver in Indianapolis at 1991, 1 bronze each in Paris, Birmingham, Debrecen, and Aarhus at 1992, 1993, 2002, and 2006, respectively, 1 silver each in Ghent and Melbourne at 2001 and 2005, respectively, and 1 gold in Anaheim at 2003) at World Artistic Gymnastic Championship Games
    Won 1 gold medal at 1992 Barcelona Olympics and 1 silver medal at 2008 Beijing Olympics
    Won 3 bronze medals (2 bronze in Hiroshima at 1994 and 1 silver in Busan at 2002) at Asian Games
    Won 2 medals (1 bronze in Amsterdam at 2007 and 1 gold in Clermont-Ferrand at 2008) at European Championships
    Also competed in 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games
    Currently resides in Cologne, Germany

    She is now quite old for a gymnast to participate.
    She usually has a masculine hairstyle.
    Back in Uzbekistan, she practiced with dangerous, outdated equipment.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her son Alisher was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002, so she had to participate in the 2008 Olympic Games in order to get enough money to buy a cure.
    She worked in gymnastics for twenty years.
    Her perseverance in her career is a great role model for gymnasts.
    She’s an expert at the vault.
