The Resume

Formed in Manchester, England in 1985
Andy Connell - keyboards (born in Manchester; July 6, 1961- )
Corinne Drewery - vocals (born in Nottingham; September 21, 1959- )
Band name taken from the similarly titled 1945 Arthur Treacher movie
Recorded 'Breakout,' 'Surrender,' 'Twilight World,' 'You on My Mind,' 'Waiting Game,' 'Am I the Same Girl?' and 'Notgonnachange'

Why they might be annoying:

They started as a trio, but drummer Martin Jackson left after their first album.
They've been through no less than six record labels.
Since there's only Connell and Drewery, they need session musicians to tour live.
Their music was chart friendly in the late 80s-early '90s, but has faded in subsequent decades.
In 1999, they released the album 'Filth and Dreams,' which they only released in Japan.
Their recording of 'Am I the Same Girl?' was used as the introductory theme song of NBC TV talk show 'Martha' starring Martha Stewart.

Why they might not be annoying:

Drewery was a model and fashion designer before she became lead singer for the band.
They've experimented with several styles of music, including sophisti-pop, synth-pop, smooth jazz and acid jazz.
They have a very loyal fan base and remain huge in Japan.
Their 1987 debut album 'It's Better to Travel' reached #1 on the U.K. album chart.
The singles 'Breakout' and 'Am I the Same Girl?' both reached #1 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart.
Their 2008 smooth jazz album 'Beautiful Mess' managed to reach #5 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.
They maintain their own website and actively participate on the site's forum.
