Why he might be annoying:

As a young man, he was completely ignorant about sex.
On his wedding night, he was horrified to discover that his wife had pubic hair.
His wife divorced him because he was unable to consummate their marriage (and this was after they had been married six years!).
He later realized he was sexually attracted to children.
He fell in love with a 10-year-old girl.
When she was 16 and he was 54, he told her parents he wanted to marry her.
When the girl died, he went insane, and was mentally unbalanced for the rest of his life.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is considered one of the finest critical thinkers of his time.
His parents sheltered him from reality.
His mother tried to force him to become a priest (big surprise, he grew up a pedophile).
He was one of the first conservationists.
He campaigned to get public schools and libraries established in Britain.
He wrote a lot of essays celebrating the working man.
