Why he might be annoying:

    Minor?
He spoke with a thick Southern drawl.
He was typecast as benevolent authority figures.
He is sometimes mistaken for Lewis Stone.
He’s known to movie buffs for his role in the cult classic ‘Beyond the Forest,’ as the yokel Moose who annoys Bette Davis with the line, ‘You're something for the birds, Rosa!’ (that is, until she shoots him).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was married to the same woman for over forty-five years.
He received acclaim for his portrayal of Branch Rickey in ‘The Jackie Robinson Story’ in 1950 (he performed scenes with Jackie Robinson playing himself).
His IMDb bio read: ‘[Minor] wasn't as prolific as many other actors of his type; while he made slightly more than 100 films, his colleagues such as Russell Hicks and Pierre Watkin had over 300 to their credit’ (talk about a backhanded compliment!).
He said ‘I'm a stage actor by heart and by profession. I was a movie star by necessity and a desire to eat.’
