    He bankrupted himself attempting to sue DC Publications for rights to his characters.
    He died hating the comic book industry.
    He and Jerry Siegel began the 'Golden Age' of comic books.
    He co-created a character that gives its readers a sense of morality and inspires them to do good.
    He and Jerry Siegel were paid $60,000 each for the rights to 'Superman' (1948).
    DC Publications went on to turn 'Superman' into a multi-billion dollar franchise.
    Warner Communications (DC's mother company) recognized his genius and awarded him a pension of $35,000 a year for the remainder of his life (1975).
