Why he might be annoying:

After arriving in Madrid, he sold used items at the El Rastro Flea Market.
He often casts his mother and brother in cameo roles.
He was the lead singer for a bizarre punk-rock band, 'Almodovar & McNamara,' in the early eighties.
He would frequently perform in female attire wearing lots of black makeup.
Even his own mother feels some of his earlier films are too gross.

Why he might not be annoying:

He couldn't get in to film school, so he got a job at a telephone company and saved up enough money to buy a camera.
He wrote articles and short stories for underground magazines.
Most of his movies focus on social underdogs.
He won numerous awards, including two Oscars.
