Why Freaks and Geeks might be annoying:

NBC would show a few episodes, take a break and show some more episodes.
In the middle of summer (July 8, 2000), they aired three first run episodes.
The final three episodes of the series were shown on ABC family.
The creator Judd Apatow cast his wife Leslie Mann as a teacher.
The freaks were actually burnt out stoners, and the show glorified drug users.
The producers wrote immigration, to get Stephen Lea Sheppard, a Canadian, a green card to work on the series.
The character Jeff Rosso is a dead ringer for Chris Elliot.
The crew of the series was 0-10 in their TV softball league, losing most of their games by more than 10 runs. In one game they lost 36-6 to Grown Ups.
The episode 'Beers and Weirs' mentions going to see Pink Floyd's 'The Wall.' The episode was set in 1980 two years before the Wall was a movie.
Also in 'Beers and Weirs,' Cindy declares herself the designated driver, despite being 13 or 14.
Another admitted error is that the geeks are discussing last night's 'Dukes of Hazzard' in the lunchroom. Since Dukes aired on Friday, that would have made them in school on a Saturday.

Why Freaks and Geeks might not be annoying:

Martin Starr had the uncanny ability to look like a nerd/geek.
The show focused on being an outcast and thus invited a cult following.
The writers encouraged the performers to improvise lines and assist in filling out their character.
The title scene of students posing for pictures, remains funny every time it is seen.
Joel Hodgson from Mystery Science Theater appeared in an episode and Trace Beaulieu was a regular.
    The series spun-off Undeclared.
One character Ann (Tuba Girl) reveals she was born with both male and female genitalia.
It gave us the term mathlete, for someone who excels in math.
Fear Factor entitled one of their episodes 'Freaks and Geeks.'
The writers guide stressed the students should be realistic.
