Sculptor of ‘Dei Partei,’ ‘The Army’ and various bronze portraits

He was close friends with Adolf Hitler and other prominent Nazis.
He posed for a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower with Hitler after Germany’s defeat of France.
When he was confronted about the consequences of his glorification of Hitler he tried to pretend he had no idea what was happening at the time.
Some of his works were rather homoerotic.
He bored his wife by frequently discussing politics.

Despite being a registered member of the Nazi party, his supporters claim he never supported Nazi ideals.
He sculpted bronze portraits of many noted historical figures.
During his lifetime he was described as the ‘German Michelangelo.’
