TV Series
    (February 17, 2014- )
    Late night talk/variety show
    Originally aired on NBC
    Hosted by Jimmy Fallon
Music provided by rap/funk group The Roots
    Announcer: Steve Higgins
Sketches/games and recurring elements include: 'Thank You Notes,' 'Pros and Cons,' 'Tonight Show Hashtags,' and 'Hashtag the Panda'
It feels like Jimmy's old show in a new time slot.
However, many of the games and sketches during his 'Late Night' tenure were not carried over into the 'Tonight Show.'
Many Angelenos were upset that NBC decided to move the show back to New York after spending over four decades originating from Los Angeles.
The Roots are often overexposed on the show.
Some TV critics complained he is not a good celebrity interviewer.
One recurring element featured a costumed panda dancing wildly to a short comedic jazz piece and nearly tripping himself while doing so.
By returning to New York, the show returned to its roots when Jack Paar hosted it.
Entertainment Weekly noted that after Fallon's first year hosting the show, he 'Turned the revered late-night franchise into the hottest party in town, a celebrity playpen full of games, music, surprise guests, and good vibes all around.'
Some critics compared his style to a nice, yet hipper version of Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres.
In its first year, the show won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Interactive Program for 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Digital Experience.'
The show heavily integrated social media.
The show's opening sequence, directed by filmmaker Spike Lee, paid homage to the comedy series 'The Honeymooners.'
Fortunately for Angelenos, he broadcasted a week of shows in Los Angeles shortly after Super Bowl XLIX which included an apperance by former bandleader Doc Severinsen .
