He was white and had the largest afro of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
He lived in Jimi Hendrix's shadow.
He left the Jimi Hendrix Experience because he did not like 'wasting time in the studio.'
Because of his departure, Hendrix played bass on several songs on 'Electric Ladyland.'
He played in the band Fat Mattress and was fired for his lack of song writing skills.
The main reason he joined the Jimi Hendrix Experience was because he was desperate for a job.

Why he might not be annoying:

He joined the Experience by accident when he went to the audition with Eric Burdon.
He was forced to sell his royalties from the Experience and eventually the bass that he used during his time with them.
He became a professional bassist at 17.
He received advice on how to play bass from John Entwhistle.
He never tried to take advantage of the fact that he played with Jimi Hendrix.
