Why he might be annoying:

    In his youth, he took first prize in a hog calling contest.
    He went uncredited in his first motion picture, Billy Crystal's 1992 film 'Mr. Saturday Night.'
    Known as an intense method actor, he sometimes stays in character after filming, quoting 'The life of a character doesn't just exist between action and cut.'
    As serious as he takes acting, for some reason his favorite TV show is 'Sanford and Son.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    At age 10, he became a Georgia state champion clogger (mountain dancer) with his mother, and opened for B.B. King for a gig at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta.
    His acting heros include Anthony Hopkins, Robert Duvall, Sean Penn, Forest Whitaker, Tommy Lee Jones and Ed Harris.
    He formed a dog walking business in L.A. with his wife, and during a walk she discovered a murdered woman in the hills.
    Suffering from depression, the event pushed her over the edge, and she asked him for a divorce shortly before jumping to her death from a high-rise building (November 12, 2004).
    He co-owns a film production company, Ginny Mule Pictures, and won an Oscar in 2001 for the short film 'The Accountant.'
    He's also won the Spirit of Slamdance Award at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah for 'The Accountant' and a South By Southwest Special Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin for 2009's 'That Evening Sun.'
    He campaigned door-to-door in L.A. for Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential race.
    He volunteers for not-profit organizations involving humanitarian an environmental issues and is an active member of Global Green USA.
    His hobbies include photography, scuba diving and world travel (he's been to India, Morocco, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and parts of Central America).
