Why she might be annoying
She made a living playing rich, snooty dowagers.
She routinely played the straight-woman to Groucho Marx's wisecracks.
Her acting was not really a stretch, she was wealthy owning mansions in Palm Springs and Paris.
Why she might not be annoying
She was a good sport about being the brunt of the Marx Brothers' jokes, both on screen and off.
Movie critics consider her one of cinema's greatest comedic foils.
She suffered from a form of baldness (alopecia universalis) and sometimes had to wear a wig.
She never understood the Marx Brothers' gags, but played along anyway.
Fans call her 'The Fifth Marx Brother.'
She won a Screen Actors' Guild Award for her role as a hypochondriac in 'A Day at the Races (1937).'
She died of a heart attack days after reuniting with Groucho to do their comedy bit on the 'Hollywood Palace (1965).'
