Why she might be annoying:

She looked like Mel Brooks.
Even her lesbian lover said she looked 'like a Roman emperor.'
Her poetry is repetitive and bizarre.
One poem begins: 'If I told him would he like it. Would he like it if I told him. Would he like it would Napoleon would Napoleon would would he like it. If Napoleon if I told him,' etc., etc.
She published her own autobiography under her girlfriend's name.
She never thought of anything but herself.
When somebody spilled a glass of wine at a party, she said, 'Don't worry, it didn't get on me,' even though she was across the room when it happened.
She said: 'Einstein was the creative philosophic mind of this century, and I am the creative literary mind of this century.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Although a Jewish lesbian, she escaped the Nazis in occupied France.
She was known for her great art collection.
She was one of the most influential 20th-century poets.
She and her lover had a happy relationship that lasted almost 40 years.
Ernest Hemingway said she was 'just like a brother' to him.
