The Resume

    (July 7, 1916-March 9, 2019)
    Born in Athens, Georgia
    Babe Ruth's adopted daughter
Mother, Claire Hodgson, became Babe Ruth's second wife, married in 1929
Co-authored the book 'A Daughter's Portrait' published on the 50th anniversary of his death
Also co-wrote 'Major League Dad' (2001) and 'Babe & the Kid:: The Legendary Story of Babe Ruth and Johnny Sylvester' (2007)

Why she might be annoying:

Even into her nineties, she referred to Babe Ruth as 'daddy.'
Her mom had been seeing Babe Ruth - a married man - for years before marrying him after his first wife died in a house fire.
She liked to joke about being Ruth's blood daughter because he volunteered for a blood transfusion when she was hospitalized for strep throat (they were the same blood type).
Her stepsister claimed in her 1988 memoir that Claire Hodgson gave Julia favored treatment.

Why she might not be annoying:

She appeared at countless events on her adoptive father's behalf at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
She remained popular among All-Star National League players who would mob her for autographs.
She loved recalling events from 1934 when she went on a 'round the world' tour with her parents, including to Japan.
She didn’t believe in the Curse of the Bambino, arguing that her father had loved baseball too much to put a curse on any team
She threw out the first pitch at Fenway Park before Game 5 of the 1999 American League Championship Series.
She would return to do so on several other occasions, the final time to celebrate her 100th birthday, in 2016.
