The Resume

    (November 26, 1934-July 16, 2019)
    Born in Santa Monica, California
Birth name was Barry Clark Heacock
Acted in 'Peyton Place,' 'Love Me Tender,' '300 Spartans,' 'Fantastic Voyage,' 'But Not for Me,' 'One Foot in Hell,' and 'The Bravados'
Portrayed Mr. Goodwrench on television commercials in the 1970s and 1980s

Why he might be annoying:

His final acting credit was in a Jaws sequel.
His career never rebounded after the end of his Fox contract in the early sixties.
More than any of his actual movie roles, he will probably only ever be remembered by most as the 'Mister Goodwrench' in a string of successful - albeit formulaic - General Motors commercials.
He was brought on as the 'fifth' Cartright brother on Bonanza - as a possible replacement for Pernell Roberts - but was written off the show after a single episode (apparently due to onset tension with Michael Landon).
His one starring role on a television series, 'Follow the Sun,' ended with the show's cancellation after twenty-nine episodes.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was discovered by a talent scout during a trip with his fraternity to Palm Springs.
His father, Warner Bros publicist Frank Heacock, was killed in an auto accident in 1940.
As a Fox contract player he briefly dated Barbara Eden.
He was married to the same woman for over sixty years.
He won a Golden Globe award for most promising male newcomer for his role in 'A Private Affair.'
He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Rodney Harrington in 'Peyton Place' (the role would later be played by Ryan O'Neal on the television series).
