Why he might be annoying
He earned the nickname 'Happy' as a result of sporting a smile on his face at all times.
Although he served as the team's general manager on paper, he had little say in player personnel moves.
While he announced his resignation as the Leafs GM, he was essentially forced out of the position by the team's ownership.
He turned down a chance to be the general manager of the expansion Los Angeles Kings (1967).
He was considered extremely private and reclusive following his retirement from hockey.

He was a pharmacy student at the University of Toronto before being convinced to pursue a pro career.
