Why he might be annoying
He grew up rich.
He never married, causing some to believe he was gay.
Others suggest he had an incestuous infatuation with a female cousin. Still others say he was simply impotent.
He was one of those Americans who go on and on about how great England is.
He said: 'I could come back to America to die, but never, never to live.'
His writing style is so dense that many people find him unreadable.
His books have been made into some very boring films.
Why he might not be annoying
When the U.S. initially refused to enter World War I, he gave up his citizenship and became a British subject.
He received an honorary degree from Harvard Law School.
He is known for his well articulated female characters.
His book 'The Turn of the Screw' is a strange and disturbing ghost story.
