He was close friends with The Temptation's David Ruffin.
He became interested in fitness and bodybuilding, working out with boxer Thomas 'Hitman' Hearns.
'She's A Bad Mama Jama' went gold and spent eight weeks at #2 on Billboard's Singles chart (1981).
The album containing the song also went gold.
He performed on American Bandstand, Soul Train and Solid Gold.
He toured in the early '80s with Rick James.
