Besides being known as 'Blind Willie,' he was known as 'Blind Sammie,' 'Hot Shot Willie' and 'Georgia Bill.'
In the last years of his life, he began drinking alcohol on a regular basis.
Why he might not be annoying
He was born blind and only could see light out of one of his eyes, yet he still knew how to play different instruments like the guitar, the harmonica and the accordion, which made his hearing and touching senses unbelievable.
His guitar playing was so incredible that he sounded like he was playing two guitars at once.
He could read and write music in braille.
Before he got his music career started, he studied at many different schools across the country.
During World War II, most of the blues musicians' music careers stopped but after the war was over he went back into the studio to record more tracks and was signed to Atlantic Records.
Bob Dylan wrote a song about him, saying that 'no one can sing the blues like Blind Willie McTell.'
He was influential to Bob Dylan's music career.
He was influential to The White Stripes' music career and they covered two of his songs, 'Your Southern Can Is Mine' and 'Boll Weevil.'
After he left his music career, he became a pastor in a Southern church.
He's known as one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time and one of the best singers in blues.
