    After it gained independence, internal political conflicts occured between conservatives and liberals and between civilians and the military.
    It was a refuge for Nazi war criminals.
    In 1989, its inflation rate soared to 200% per month.
    It has a high infant mortality rate.
    Though its 92% Roman Catholic, less than 20% of its people practice the religion.
Why Argentina might not be annoying
    It is a world leader in setting voluntary greenhouse gas targets.
    The musical 'Evita' is based on the life of Argentine First Lady Eva Perón (1945-death in 1952).
