Why he might be annoying
He said about his decision to go solo, 'I left Fairport as a gut reaction and didn't really know what I was doing.'
His 'Henry the Human Fly' was reportedly the worst selling album ever on the Warner Brothers label.
He dropped out of recording for three years to live on a Sufi commune.
He cheated on Linda while she was pregnant.
During a subsequent tour together, she would hit him during performances or trip him as the band came out on stage.
Why he might not be annoying
Producer Joe Boyd said of his guitar playing, 'He can imitate almost any style, and often does, but is instantly identifiable.'
His '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' became the most requested song on National Public Radio.
For his show '1000 Years of Popular Music,' he performed songs ranging from the medieval 'Summer Is Icumen' to Britney Spears' 'Oops, I Did It Again.'
Newsweek said of his performances, 'Like all genuine art, it satisfies completely.'
