Why North America might be annoying:

A colony named Vineland (meaning fertile region) was established in Newfoundland but was eventually abandoned.
European colonization of North America destroyed Native American's way of life.
Native Americans were mistakenly called Indians because Columbus thought he arrived on the east coast of India.
Native Americans had a hierachy from chiefs, nobles, commoners and slaves.
Buffalo and Bison were extremely plentiful in North America and were almost made extinct by European settlers.
Much of the world's tobacco is grown in North America.
The Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Counter-Reformation (the Renaissance) brought interest in conquering North America.
Many Europeans believed that the Eastern part of North America was filled with barbaric savages and the western was a peace loving Christian utopia.
Europeans also believed it was divine providence that Christians must convert pagans in North America.
Europeans thought it was OK to plunder the New World, because its treasures were held by pagans. Killing pagans was also justified as doing God's work.

Why North America might not be annoying:

The Aztec civilization inhabited Mexico and built pyramids.
The Mayans begin their civilization in Central America (300).
Possibly the first Europeans to explore North America were Eric the Red and Leif Ericson, who were Norse vikings.
The second largest (Canada) and fourth largest (USA) countries are located in North America.
Totem poles were built by Native Americans and Eskimos.
Native Americans developed a sign language so they could communicated with other tribes.
Native Americans hunted bison with bow and arrows and used spears to catch salmon.
It is estimated that before Columbus discovered the New World there were 15-40,000,000 inhabitants speaking 1,000-2,000 different languages.
John Cabot explored East Canada and claimed the land for England (1497).
¾ of the population lives in urban areas.
Corn (5000 BC), Potatoes (2000 BC) and Lima Beans (1500 BC) originated in North America.
