He was born into show business with both of his parents being actors.
He studied physics in London, but failed to complete his advanced degree to reunite with The Monkees on their reunion tour.
He and Davy Jones made a Pizza Hut commercial with Ringo Starr (1995).

Why he might not be annoying:

His daughter is actress Ami Dolenz.
He beat out 400 other actors for his role in The Monkees.
He was intended to stay in London for three months (1977) to perform in a musical called 'The Point,' but ended up staying there for 12 years.
He continues to act, but is also directing and doing voice work.
