Why she might be annoying:

She became a follower of conspiracy theorist/anti-semite/tax evader/all-around loon Lyndon LaRouche, serving as vice-president of his Schiller Institute.
She said of LaRouche, 'The world can be saved and poverty eliminated if that man were listened to.'
Washington state cancelled a planned Amelia Boynton Robinson Day after learning of her LaRouche connections (1992).
She unsuccessfully sued the Walt Disney Company for defamation (2004), claiming that the TV movie 'Selma, Lord, Selma' depicted her as a 'black Mammy.'

Why she might not be annoying:

During the Depression, she worked as a home demonstration agent for the US Department of Agriculture, educating rural Georgians about nutrition and healthcare.
She managed to overcome the Jim Crow roadblocks and registered to vote in 1934.
She was the first black woman to run for Congress in Alabama (1964).
She played a key role in convincing Martin Luther King to participate in the Selma marches and he set up 'protest headquarters' in her home.
On 'Bloody Sunday,' she was beaten unconscious by police (March 7, 1965).
She later said, 'If that's what it took to get attention, I don't care how many licks I got. It just made me even more determined to fight for our cause.'
She was a guest of honor at the White House when Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law (August 6, 1965).
She attended the funeral of Sheriff Jim Clark, who ordered the attacks on 'Bloody Sunday.' to show she had no animosity (2007).
She attended the 2015 State of the Union Address as a guest of President Obama and Rep. Terri Sewell.
