Killed in a battle with the 'HMS Pearl' (November 22, 1718)

He looked like Rupert Boneham.
When he was in his late 30s, he married a 16 year old.
He never took any prisoners, preferring to burn and kill his victims.
He bribed the governor of North Carolina into giving him a full pardon.
Just weeks after being pardoned, he went back to piracy.
He weaved wicks laced with gunpowder into his beard.

He is probably the most famous pirate of all time.
If the crews of the ships he raided cooperated, he let them free.
He was shot 5 times and stabbed more than 20 times before he finally died.
His head was put on the bowsprit of the 'HMS Pearl' as a warning to all pirates.
