Why they might be annoying
They were part of the expansion boom of the late 1980's.
They went from having the highest NBA attendance to one of the lowest within years.
This partly had to do with owner George Shinn either releasing or trading all of their best players.
It didn't help Shinn's case with Charlotte when he went on trial for sexual assault.
After he promised not to move, the Hornets moved to New Orleans.
Some people call them the 'whore-nets.'
They drafted Kobe Bryant, but they traded him for Vlade Divac.
Something must've happened when Mourning and Johnson were Hornet teammates, as they were fighting each other in the end of a pivotal Heat-Knicks playoff game.
Despite all their promising talent, they never reached the conference finals.
Ironically, when Charlotte was rewarded a new expansion team, the Hornets had to move to the tougher Western Conference to make room.
Why they might not be annoying
Their name is a Revolutionary War term describing the resistance of British troops in North Carolina.
They gave us Larry 'Grandmama' Johnson and Muggsy Bogues.
They have a teal uniform color.
Ironically, in their first game in New Orleans, they played the Utah Jazz.
Instead of moving to a city that would still need to build a NBA-ready arena, they moved to New Orleans, which already had an arena built for them.
