Why he might be annoying
In each of his first six seasons, he had more intercepted passes than touchdown passes.
He threw 35 interceptions in one season (1988).
Despite leading the U. of Miami to a #1 ranking and an undefeated regular season, he threw five interceptions in the national title game against Penn State, as Miami lost the game 14-10 (January 2, 1987).
He never quite lived up to expectations as a pro.
He is a brillo-head, like Adam Carolla or Ben Savage.
In Italian/Spanish, his last name literally translates to 'Green Balls.'
Why he might not be annoying
Bill Parcells was so impressed by the way he played for him with the Jets, that he wanted him to play for his Cowboys.
He played six seasons for Tampa Bay, back when the Buccaneers were just plain terrible.
While with the Jets, he was advertised with a parody of an Elton John song, 'Vinne and the Jets.'
He is colorblind.
He finally turned his career around in 1998 with the New York Jets, earning 29 TD passes, only seven interceptios, and a 101.6 passer rating.
Trailing the Miami Dolphins 30-7 on a Monday Night, he engineered a 30-point fourth quarter comeback in which the Jets ended up winning 40-37 in overtime, in perhaps the greatest comeback in Monday Night Football history (October 23, 2000).
He helps out with the United Way.
He continued to play at a pro level into his 40's.
