Why she might be annoying
She never played in a grand slam singles final.
She partnered with golfer, Jane Geddes, to start the company 'Planesia.'
'Planesia' stands for 'Plan Your Amnesia' which is just another shopping service on the internet.
By 1975, she received over $30,000 in fines.
She has a quick temper and has broken hundred of tennis rackets.
Her quick temper was first witnessed when she was 12, when she yelled at the umpire claiming he was discriminating against because she was Puerto Rican.
She says her temper comes for her own insecurity and a need to be perfect.
She once mooned an opponent.
She dropped out of Clemson University to pursue her tennis career (although she is the rare tennis player who finished high school).
Why she might not be annoying
After her tennis career ended, she improved her golf game and considered joining the LPGA.
She ranked #94 (1996) in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women.
She labeled herself 'a spoiled rich girl.'
Realizing her temper was going to get the best of her, she mailed a check for $250 to the WTA, to cover a future fine.
During the Olympic games she had a choice rather to play doubles with Mary Joe Fernández (representing the U.S.) or singles (representing Puerto Rico), she chose doubles and played for the U.S..
Although she had to fight a lot of Puerto Rican disdain, her reasoning was there were no strong double players she could team with for Puerto Rico.
She raised over $100,000 for the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
