Once known for her beauty, she ballooned in size as her husband progressed in his career.
She rather unfortunately picked a very skinny husband, which only made her weight problems funnier.
She had terrible grammar and spelling.
She married Andrew Jackson before the divorce of her first marriage was finalized.
As a result, she was hounded over charges of bigamy her entire life.
She knew the Bible and very little else.

She grew up on the frontier.
Her first husband was intensely jealous and might have slugged her.
She was pushed into a reclusive lifestyle because of the bigamy rumors.
Other women of high society looked down on her.
She died before she could become First Lady.
