Basketball Player
Watching Bill Walton play a college game against USC and grabbing a ton of backboard shots he told a friend, 'This guy can't be white!'
His rookie year was Billy Cunningham's final year. He made a circus shot and Cunningham screamed, 'Dammit, kid, this ain't the park.'
He legally changed his name from 'Lloyd' to 'World B.' in 1982.
The 'B.' stands for nothing (perhaps 'be.')
He is not mentioned in the same light as other guards named '50 Greatest Players in NBA History,' such as Magic Johnson, Pete Maravich, Walt Frazier, Bob Cousy and Tiny Archibald.
He scored more career points than any of them, yet made only one All-Star appearance (1980).
He overuses the phrase 'Oh man!'
He adopted his childhood nickname from the playgrounds of Brooklyn. He was known for his 360 degree 'all world' dunks and 44 inch vertical leap.
In college he was part of the 1973 NAIA Championship Team and named MVP of the NAIA Tournament.
He spends time talking to kids about hope, success, attitude, and how they can make a difference.
He is enshrined in the New York City Basketball Hall-of-Fame (1997).
He was named the 76ers 'Ambassador of Basketball' and donates his time to charitable organizations (1998).
He visits sick kids in hospitals and has been called a 'class act' by parents of gravely ill children.
